Panic Room

This was the first game that we played at Panic Room and we were seriously impressed! Enthusiastic and friendly staff, a massive waiting area with plenty of tables, comfy chairs and little games to play as well as a café to buy drinks and snacks. We could easily spend all day here and not leave the premises!

Dinoland is amazing! The Jurassic Park style story is as ridiculous as it is fun and being chased by a T-Rex made us laugh so much that we barely got away!

It’s a bit of a different escape experience, being guided through the game by our ranger, which we did find a little difficult to get used to as we’re big fans of figuring things out for ourselves rather than being told which room we need to run to next. Our host dropped in and out of the story, escorting us in the lift but also shutting us in rooms and leaving us to find solutions on our own.

There was a big variety of puzzles, all linked together as we raced to get the power to the Dino park switched back on. We worked through physical puzzles, fuse boxes, number sequences and word play, all while running around at a frenetic pace trying to outrun the sound of the approaching dinosaurs. The story based nature of the experience meant that the puzzles had to be worked through in order so it was quite a linear experience but with the added entertainment of roaring dinosaurs and escaped raptors!

While we loved this game, the one downside for us was the linear nature of the puzzles. Because we were working on one thing at a time, some of us were left standing around waiting for the next section while others solved the puzzle. That isn’t to say that we didn’t enjoy ourselves, but we would’ve liked some extra little puzzles to keep everyone involved.

Stuart – The concept, the theming and the size of the room that had been dedicated for this game were all really great. Definitely worth a go however like Simon has mentioned I really felt this game was too linear with hand holding that at times wasn’t necessary. I like the ‘live actors’ were there at points but there were times we had to go in and out of the room we were trying to stay out of which broke up the gameplay. All that said – it’s a unique game and an experience definitely well worth trying as you will find yourself laughing at some point in the game (at one point in particular!)

Simon – The theming in this game is great and the staff members are used to really immerse you into the game. As an experience, this is definitely a must-do. However, for me, as a game it fell a little flat because of the linear nature and the hand-holding the whole way through. Personally, I felt with a few tweaks, this game could have become much more independent, but I still thoroughly enjoyed myself.
